A Game of Princes and Pirates, another short work, investigates the strain of responsibility on familial bonds. Crown Prince Hadrian and his younger brother, Morgan, have grown up inseparably. But as the boys’ father, the king, grows sicker and sicker, the increasing demands of Hadrian’s imminent ascension challenge his bond with Morgan. Read an excerpt here.

This is an excerpt of “The Stories that Shape History: The Formation of the Pirate Myth in A General History of the Pyrates”. My article is published in the Spring 2024 Volume of The James Blair Historical Review, a competitive undergraduate peer-reviewed journal which features historical scholarship from across the United States.
